Renville County is accepting comments on the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) prepared for the expansion and operation of the Zaske nonmetallic mineral (gravel) mine as excavation will exceed 40 acres of land to a mean depth of 10 feet or more, which requires the need for a mandatory EAW based on Minnesota Rules 4410.4300, Subp. 12.B. The mining site is located in Sections 23 and 24 of Sacred Heart (South) Township, Renville County, Minnesota.
A required 30-day comment period will run between February 20, 2017, and March 22, 2017. Comments must be submitted during the review period and should be addressed to:
Scott Refsland, Interim Director
Division of Environment and Community Development
105 South 5th Street, Suite 311
Olivia, MN 56277
The full text of the EAW is on file with the Division of Environment and Community Development and may be reviewed by any interested persons during regular business hours. Comments shall address the accuracy and completeness of the material contained in the EAW, potential impacts that may warrant further investigation before the project is commenced, and the need for an Environmental Impact Statement.
