Highway 4 project starts Monday, July 17

Highway 4 project starts Monday, July 17

WILLMAR, Minn. – The Highway 4 resurfacing project from Fairfax to the intersection of Highway 4 and Highway 68 will start Monday, July 17.  The project includes the resurfacing of Highway 4 for 13.4 miles, the replacement of two culverts, the replacement of bridge approach panels and the installation of new guardrail.  It will require a short detour from July 17-August 4 (detour map below).  The road will be open to traffic after August 4 during the remainder of the project work.

MnDOT News Release for Highway 7 and US 71

Highway 7 and US 71/roundabout projects start June 12

WILLMAR, Minn. – The Highway 7 and US 71/roundabout projects start Monday, June 12.  The Highway 7 project includes the resurfacing of Highway 7 from the intersection of US 71/Highway 7 to Clara City (16.4 miles).  Due to the extensive resurfacing work this project will require a detour.  There will be two stages to the detour.  The first will run June 12 to July 5.  The second will run July 5 to Sept.1. Construction of the roundabout at the intersection of Highway 7 and US 71 will also begin on June 12.  This project will be constructed under traffic.  US 71 will remain open.

Minnesota River Valley Recreation and Conservation Master Plan

The draft Minnesota River Valley Recreation and Conservation Master Plan is available for a 30-day public comment period. The Master Plan can be found at www.mnrivervalleymasterplan.org.  Comments about the plan can be sent to Comment@MNRiverValleyMasterPlan.org through June 8, 2017. Printed copies of the plan are available for loan at the Renville County Environmental Office in Olivia, the Redwood County Environmental Office in Redwood Falls, the Redwood Falls Public Library and the Lower Sioux Environmental office in Morton.

A public open house will also be held June 8th to receive written comments about the Master Plan. The open house will be held at the Redwood Falls Public Library community room from 4:30 p.m.to 7:30 p.m.

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT WORKSHEET (EAW) - ZASKE (GRAVEL) MINE
Renville County is accepting comments on the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) prepared for the expansion and operation of the Zaske nonmetallic mineral (gravel) mine as excavation will exceed 40 acres of land to a mean depth of 10 feet or more, which requires the need for a mandatory EAW based on Minnesota Rules 4410.4300, Subp. 12.B.  The mining site is located in Sections 23 and 24 of Sacred Heart (South) Township, Renville County, Minnesota.

A required 30-day comment period will run between February 20, 2017, and March 22, 2017.  Comments must be submitted during the review period and should be addressed to:

PUBLIC PRESENTATION

On April 12, 2016, based upon a recommendation of the Lake Allie ESSD Advisory Council, the Renville County Board of Commissioners approved a contract with ISG to prepare a Capital Improvement Plan for the Lake Allie ESSD Wastewater Treatment Facility.  The Capital Improvement Plan will provide anticipated expenditures for use in budgeting and informing the users of the system of the expected needs based upon the reasonable remaining life cycle of each component.  A public presentation of the Plan to the Renville County Board of Commissioners and Lake Allie ESSD Advisory Council will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in Suite 313 of the Renville County Government Services Center, 105 South 5th Street, Olivia, Minnesota.  ISG will recap the work outlined in the Plan and field any questions from staff or the public.

If you are not there, you will not be in the drawing. You cannot send someone else in your place. Meeting is Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 6pm, Renville County Government Services Center, Room 116/117. Staff will go through the rules and answer all questions before the drawing. Once you are drawn, have picked your park & zone, and received your permits, you are free to go. See you there!
Minnesota River Valley Recreation and Conservation Master Plan

Please visit the Minnesota River Valley Recreation and Conservation Master Plan webpage to participate in an online survey (questionnaire). It will take just 5-10 minutes to answer some questions which will help us develop ideas for outdoor recreation and conservation in the Minnesota River Valley. If you have specific comments on issues or opportunities, feel free to also send us an email. The survey will only be online for a short time so don’t wait to participate!
