There are three primary areas within Human Services - Social Services, Child Support and Public Assistance. The Social Service Unit provides the following services: Child Protection, Child Welfare, Child Care, Chemical Health Services, Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Adult Services. The services primarily involve completing assessments or investigations, developing individual case plans, contracting for services and case management. The Child Support Unit provides five major services to public and non-public assistance applicants, all with the purpose of assisting with child support collections. Services include paternity determination, parent location, support obligation establishment, enforcement, and distribution. The Public Assistance Unit provides financial support to elderly, disabled and low-income residents of Renville County. It determines eligibility for public assistance programs such as General Assistance, Minnesota Family Investment Program, Diversionary Work Program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Emergency Assistance, Emergency General Assistance, Minnesota Supplemental Aide and Group Residential Housing. |
