The Renville County Courthouse will be open to the Public, the License Department will be by appointment only.

Motor Vehicle Title Transfers, Driver's License, and Prorate transactions are by appointment only.
No Appointment is needed Between 8:00a.m.- 3:45p.m, if you need to renew your tabs (received your renewal notice) please come in and see us.


***Appointments will be 25 min long, and face masks are required during your appointment.***

Changes to Prorate Appointments:

Tuesdays 8:30a.m. - 11:00a.m.
Thursdays 1:30 p.m. -3:00 p.m.

30 min appointments are allotted, please make sure you have everything you need for your appointment. 
Prorate Document Information

We will continue to use the Drop box (located outside the North side of the court house) for Passenger Tab Renewals only. If you are due for a 7 year replacement plate (your renewal notice will state this) Please come in and see us,  No appointment is needed for tab renewals Between 8:00a.m.- 3:45p.m.

State Online Services

***There will be no State Examiners at the Renville County License Center until further notice.  At this time there will be no written tests, road test, or reinstatement fees taken at this location.***

DPS-DVS reopened 16 exam stations on May 18, 2020

These include: St. Paul, Arden Hills, Anoka, Eagan, Plymouth, Rochester, Mankato, Fairmont (opening May 26 for road tests only), Marshall, Willmar, Detroit Lakes, St. Cloud, Brainerd, Duluth, Grand Rapids, and Bemidji.  All testing will be by appointment only in these locations. Please visit drive.mn.gov to set up an appointment for your test.

Gov. Walz signed a bill into law March 28 that provides an extension for Minnesotans whose driver's licenses or ID cards expire during the peacetime emergency. 

The law extends the expiration date for any valid driver's license, instruction permit, provisional license, operator's permit, limited license, status checks, and farm work license that would expire during the peacetime emergency. The expiration dates for these licenses will be extended for two months after the date that the peacetime emergency ends. 

If you expire during this time: March 12- October 31, you are extended until December 31, 2020 



Reminders for Customers.

The new Real ID license will be required for travel beginning October 1, 2021 within the United States.

Deadline for Enhanced Drivers License is 3:30 pm Monday-Friday

Written test/Drivers test exam location has changed to the lower level of the court house effective July 5, 2017.
