Renville County's burning permits are now implied.  That is, you no longer need a physical permit to burn legal material.

To burn legal material (brush, tree trimmings, tree limbs and unpainted/untreated lumber), simply call the Sheriff's Office - Dispatch (320-523-1161) and report your fire.  If there is a burning ban on at the time, you will be instructed not to burn.

The Dispatcher will ask you:  Your name, location of the fire (section and township), phone number of person attending the fire, material being burned.

Under Renville County's ordinance, you MUST call the Dispatch Center before starting your fire.  If your fire will burn longer than one day, you must call during the morning of each day that the fire will burn.

It is not only in ordinance that the call must be made, but it could also save you the cost of a fire department response to a fire that has not been previously reported!
